Basic types of sexual harassment

1. Offences.

Judgments and expressions of sexual character which discriminate or offend an interlocutor. They can be in the form of offensive inscriptions on the walls or in the form of indecent jokes and expression of humour about sex or sexual relations in the presence of the opposite sex.

2. Invitations.

Undesirable or offensive invitations for an affair that can be considered as sexual ones or related to sex.

- Proposals for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drink;

- Phone calls, letters and other types of invitations not related to work.

3. The promises.

Proposals of sexual affair or another acts related to sex, especially if they are complemented by the promise of remuneration (in explicit or hidden form). For example situations when a chief invites you to spend the weekend together promising to raise salaries in case of your consent.

4. Compulsion.

Compulsion to sex or sex-related actions under the threat of punishment or censure in any form.

For example, your chief asks you to wear a shorter skirt, hinting that in case of refusal he would fire you and take another secretary or transfer you to the night shift.
